Several factors come into play in the selection of debt counseling services by a client. First of them is the type of credit card the client is holding. If the card is a regular interest credit card, the calculations would be different from that relating to the 0 interest credit cards.
Another important consideration is that only 30% of the clients that originally opted for some credit card debt program and was provided with one by the counseling company does not stick to the program through its end. Many opt out of the plan midway and that could be a real problem.
When some person requires credit card debt program, it clearly indicates that the financial life of such person suffered from indiscipline. Such people failed to say no to acute crave for luxurious items and thus started spending more than they could afford to. Having credit card in their possession helped them to spend without fearing the shortage of cash they might be suffering with.
Multiple examples of such indiscipline are there like too many dinner parties, plasma TV where ordinary LCD TV could do well, and having huge DVD collections. Weekend getaways and spending a lot on liquor are some other examples of such indiscipline in financial affairs.
Remedies in such situation are not the discarding of the credit card but balanced use of it. Even when such credit cards are low interest credit cards, taking precautionary measures like discontinuance of its use for the time being could end in good results for the user.
